Juniors to Watch: Rangeview

Coach Dave Gonzales had three players that he recommended to us for next year. One of which is expected to receive an offer from Colorado on Wednesday. The Buffs and Rams are heavily after the defensive end prospect already. Rangeview, located in Aurora, also boasts two other potential division one prospects that were all-conference selections as juniors. The Raiders went 5-5 last season and are ready to take it to another level this year.

"We were on our way to the playoffs but then we lost our last three games by a total of 14 points against Doherty, Highlands Ranch, and Jesuit," said head coach Dave Gonzales.

Coach Gonzales has a trio of players he expects a lot from this year. His star player sounds like it will be Maurice Lucas. Lucas, a 6-5 220-pounder, was a second team all-state selection as a junior at both offensive and defensive line.

"The in-state schools are both after him. He is being recruited very seriously by Colorado and I am told they will be offering him on Wednesday. I know Maurice is excited about the offer."

Colorado has always offered a select few juniors on signing day each year. Coach Gonzales says that Maurice could play defensive end or offensive lineman on the next level but he thinks he'll end up on defense.

Rangeview also has two second team all-conference selections from last year in Scott Benedict and Matt Bomareto. Scott is a 6-3, 290-pound offensive lineman and Matt is a 5-10, 180-pound running back/linebacker.

Buff Country plans on getting interviews with all three players in the near future.
