Juniors to Watch: J.K. Mullen

Coach Dave Logan recommended six players to us next year from what is traditionally the top program in the state. Two of the juniors are argubaly the top players in Colorado and will receive national attention. Colorado is all over these two early and a host of other schools will no doubt be involved soon. the Buffs are said to have offered one of them and the other one could be offered as soon as tomorrow.

Mullen has arguably the most talent in the state for next year and it should help Coach Logan make a run deep into the playoffs.

Jesse White is a 6-3, 280 pound lineman who runs the 40 in 4.8 and has incredible strength. He benches 430 and squats 600.

"He is the strongest kid I have ever had," says Coach Logan. "He is pretty athletic for his size."

Logan was not sure if the rumors were true that CU offered Jesse last Wednesday but he would not doubt it.

"I was out of town in Mexico on vacation so I am not totally sure, but it is possible. Coach Barnett was in here last week."

Jesse is the son of former CU player, Leon White. Leon is better known nationally as the proffesional wrestler, Vader.

Maurice Greer is a 5-11, 187 pound running back who runs the 40 in 4.5 seconds. Both him and Jesse were the only two juniors named to the first team all-state squad last year. He benches 255 pounds and squats 415. There were some worries over Greer's grades but Coach Logan thinks he'll be okay.

"He has passed every course he has been through lately. He is a very dedicated guy in the weight room. Colorado is supposed to offer him verbally tomorrow."

Logan says that both prospects have a good amount of interest in CU early.

Grant Krunkleton is a 6-0, 175 pound cornerback who was a second team all-state and first team all-conference selection as a junior.

"All he needs to do is get a little stronger. He is a great press corner. The kid can really play. He is a skilled guy with excellent hands."

Derrick Levy is a 6-0, 175 pound wide receiver.

"He caught 58 passes for us last year. He is a very quick athlete and is also the starting point guard for the basketball team. He may get some looks there. He has great hand-eye coordination. He gets in and out of his cuts very quick."

Jake Duren is a 6-1, 215 pound linebacker. He benches 300 and squats 450.

"He is a damn good player. He has good speed and is a hard hitter. He is a guy that will get some looks with a solid year."

Brandon Taylor is a 6-1, 210 pound linebacker/rush end. He benches 245 and squats 475.

"He had a great camp at CU last year. they really seemed to like him. He is an athletic guy who can run."

Buff Country will be catching up with all of these players in the near future for interviews.
