Juniors to Watch: Arvada

Coach Bob Bozied has three players to watch for next year in the Colorado prep ranks. One of them has been getting early interest from CU, Colorado State, Nebraska, and Oregon. He fills us in on his prospects.

Arvada High School went 5-5 last year and they are hoping to take that next step this season. They have a few talented players to help them do so.

Ryan McKinley is a 6-6, 215 pound defensve end prospect who runs the 40 in 4.7 seconds. He has a bench max of 225 and a squat max of 300. His vertical leap is said to be 28 inches.

"This is a big year for him," explains Coach Bozied. "He is very capable of taking on the challenge. He plays hard and he has a lot of intensity."

Ryan was a second team all-conference pick as a junior at the defensive end position. He also doubles as an offensive tackle for his squad. He is receiving early attention from the Buffs, Rams, Huskers, and Ducks.

Mitch Kubistek is a 5-11, 190 pound linebacker who runs the 40 in 4.65 seconds. He benches 225 and squats 315. He has a vertical of 27 inches.

"He was the third leading tackler in the state last year at the end of the regular season. He is an intense player with a nose for the football. I think he could get some looks as a strong safety at the next level."

Donny Freeny is a 5-8, 185 pound athlete for Arvada. He runs the 40 in 4.9 seconds. He has a bench max of 230 pounds and a squat max of 335 pounds.

"His 40 time is not the greatest, but he plays a lot faster. He is a great team player and a very good athlete. He will be our quarterback and strong safety next year. He is a valuable asset to us at the quarterback position because he is a double-threat kind of player."

Coach Bozied went on to say that all three of his prospects have GPA's over 3.5.

Buff Country will be catching up with all three prospects soon for interviews.
