Calhoun Puts Rumors to Rest

According to Colorado junior running back Brian Calhoun, a Milwuakee newspaper's report that he would be transferring to Wisconsin was incorrect. "This is all news to me," Calhoun told a CU athletic department official March 11. "I think it may have originated from last spring, when I openly said that I might want to transfer after Coach (Eric) Bieniemy left (to join the staff at UCLA)."

Calhoun, CU's leading returning rusher from last season, said he was in his hometown of Oak Creek, Wisc., for an extended weekend recently and he speculated that a rumor may have started when people saw him in Wisconsin.

But Calhoun said, "I'm a Buffalo. I'm looking forward to spring ball. I have no intentions of transferring and I'm happy right here."

Colorado's spring practices begin April 2.

Brian is expected to be in a battle with fellow running backs Daniel Jolly and Bobby Purify for the starting position.
