"Colorado has a great coaching staff," said Cooper. "I went there for Junior Day and got to meet all of their coaches and tour the facilities. I like what they have going on there and like the way their coaches have reacted to the current situation."

Other schools on his list include Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, and Notre Dame.

Jon plays on offense and defense for Fort Collins, but believes he will be recruited as an O-lineman - most likely at guard.

"I give 100 percent on every play," Jon says of his strengths. "I am aggressive and I finish my blocks. I know what is going on out on the field at all times."

Fort Collins Head Coach Eric Rice says of Cooper, "When Dan Byers came to school here, him and his father put Jon on the Jeff Byers diet. Meaning that we will be doing all the same things for Jon that they did with Jeff to help him along."

He already took unofficial trips to Kansas State, Missouri, and Iowa State over Spring Break. His summer camp plans are tentative as of now, other than a team camp at Chadron State June 6th. Jon will be spending some time in the classroom this summer as he attempts to bring up his 2.3 core GPA. He took his SAT last Saturday and would like to major in Business or Education.
