CU Verbally Offers In-State Quarterback

It is a good year for quarterbacks in the state of Colorado. While many folks like to talk about Riar Geer from Fruita Monument and Zac Robinson from Chatfield, there is another signal caller receiving heavy attention. In fact, he is the only in-state QB that has a verbal offer from the Buffs. Brian Wiedeman from Greeley West is said to be a player that can do it all. He grew up a CU fan and favors the Buffs.

"I went to the Colorado camp last summer. I really like all the coaches and have always been a fan of them. They have offered me verbally and said that as soon as Barnett comes back that I will most likely get it in writing. They have a great system there and I like the Big 12."

Wiedeman says that his parents would also like to see him at CU, although his Father is a little partical to Wyoming since he went to school there.

So will Brian commit if/when he gets the CU offer?

"Probably not, I will wait until the end of June. I still want to check out some other schools this summer."

Those schools include Arizona State, Kansas State, and Colorado State, where he will attend camps. He will also attend a team summer camp at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Wiedeman was at CU's Junior Day and will also make it to the Buffs' summer camp.

He threw for 1,600 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. Brian added 400 yards and six touchdowns rushing. He was named first team all-conference and all-county.

He feels he makes things happen on the field.

"I have a good arm and I make a lot of plays happen on the run."

Greeley West Head Coach Mark Roggy says of Wiedeman, "There is not anything he can't do. He is a good runner, has speed, and is elusive. Brian can make all the throws. He is just a very versatile player."

He is being recruited to CU by Coach Watson and says the Buffs are after him the hardest.

Wiedeman carries a 2.8 core GPA and scored a 25 on his ACT. He is undecided on a major.
