"My Uncle, Terry Jones, played football at Colorado in the late Eighties," said Zach. "It is close to home so I have always followed them growing up."

Colorado and the Florida Gators were always his favorite teams, although he was more partial to Florida. He has family in the state.

Jones has the Buffs in his top five, but an out-of-state school leads for his services. "Oregon is my favorite. I have been there for a couple of unofficial visits and really like the program. I also like CU , Wyoming, Missouri, and Kansas State."

He has a written offer from Wyoming but could add another real soon. "The CU coaches told me that after seeing me at their camp this Saturday they will probably offer."

When asked if there was a chance of a commitment, Zach responded, "Probably not, Oregon has told me they want to see the first two games of my senior year to see what kind of leadership I display. So I want to wait and see what they might do. I will probably make a commitment somewhere by the end of September."

He is being recruited to CU by Coach Wristen. Jones plays at outside linebacker, defensive end, and tight end for Grandview. "I prefer to play tight end but most schools are recruiting me as a defensive end."

His season was cut short last year by a sprained MCL. He had two touchdowns on offense. As a sophmore, Zach was named all-city at linebacker.

The only camp he attended this summer was a passing jamboree at CU, in June.

There are two main qualities Jones feels he possesses for the game. "I am a leader out on the field and I play with a lot of passion."

He carries a 3.8 core GPA and scored a 25 on his ACT. Zach will most likely major in Business.
