So what does leading the team to four consecutive victories and a Big 12 championship get you? How about a quarterback controversey.
After practice Thursday afternoon, Coach Gary Barnett said that he is ensure who will be his starting quarterback in the Fiesta Bowl, Bobby Pesavento or Craig Ochs.
Ochs had been the starter the entire season before he was sidelined with a tendon strain in his ankle. Pesavento came in and led the Buffs to four straight wins, including a huge win over Nebraska and Texas for the Big 12 title.
"We'll flip a coin." "I feel obligated to both guys, but it's not about obligations." Barnett said.
Earlier in the month, Barnett said that Pesavento will be the starter in the bowl game and that Ochs, if healthy, would back him up. It appears he now has other thoughts on the matter.
"We'll play the guy that we deem the appropriate starter, Barnett said, "I can't tell you what the criteria will be at this point."
Pesavento is recovering from a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee he sustained in the Big 12 Championship game. Ochs has fully recovered from his ankle injury.
At this point, Pesavento is still listed #1 on the depth chart.
