"I just spoke with Coach Watson earlier tonight (yesterday)," explained Ellis. "He was just talking to me about the OSU game and trying to get my visit scheduled. I think I am going there for the Texas game on the 30th. We are going to get it set in stone next week."

Colorado is still his lone offer. "They offered me back at the beginning of June and have been recruiting me hard ever since."

Despite the fact that Colorado is his only offer, Ellis is not ready to call them the uncontested leader. "I like Baylor, SMU, Utah, Colorado, and Colorado State. If I were to name a favorite it would be SMU or Colorado."

His parents would not mind him staying in the Lone Star State for his schooling. "My Dad really likes TCU and he also like SMU."

On the field for 5-1 Lamar this fall, Ellis has 50 tackles, two sacks, one fumble recovery, one blocked kick, and two passes broken-up. "I am really good at preparing for each game. The game comes to me more on knowlegde than it does on instinct because I am always 100 percent prepared to play. I also play my game downfield."

All schools involved like him as an OLB/SS prospect.

He carries a 3.0 core GPA and scored an 1170 on his SAT. Ellis would like to major in Political Science.

Lamar takes on Arlington Martin, this Friday.
