One practice down, five to go.
The Colorado Buffaloes practiced for the first time since a Christmas break Wednesday and the coach was happy with the effort.
"The kids were really focused, pretty much the way we've been all year," Gary Barnett said after their 1:45 minute workout at Scottsdale Community College.
The good news for the Buffs is that all players are healthy and should be ready to go on Tuesday. That includes LB Kori Mossoni (back) and WR Matt Brunson (ankle) who have been slowed by the injuries for weeks.
Starting quarterback Bobby Pesavento, who is nursing a knee injury he suffered in the Big 12 Championship game against Texas, worked out with a knee brace on. The brace slowed Pesavento down a bit but he did take all of his snaps.
While Barnett called the practice sharp, he is still concerned with the eligibility status of several players. Barnett had expected to hear from the Big 12 on Wednesday but had not heard anything.
"If I find out somebody isn't eligible, I'll let you know, because it's going to be a day-to-day deal," Barnett said after practice. "I thought we'd know today, but apparently they're checking the grades daily. As of right now, we don't have anyone ineligible."
