Buffs Still Co-Favorites for Nebraska FB

It has been a long time since CU has landed a player from Nebraska. It seems like every year they are in on one and eventually lose out. The Buff staff will try to change that this year with their recruitiment of Jake Behrens from Omaha. The fullback prospect pretty much knows when he'll visit CU and has the Buffs tied with Stanford for his services.

"Yep, it is still pretty much Colorado and Stanford," said Behrens. "Colorado has offered me and I should know if I pass the Stanford admissions within the next week. So as of right now, they have only told me I have an offer. Colorado is the only one I have in writing.

"Colorado has told me that I am their top guy at fullback and they want to get me there and move me around in their offense. They think they can do a lot of things with me."

Coach Simms is after him for the Buffs.

On the year, Behrens has 115 carries for 680 yards and four touchdowns. Millard North is standing at 3-6. "We have lost five games to the top five teams in the state. All of those losses were by less than a touchdown."

On defense, he has 65 tackles and five sacks. Showing his versatility, the fullback/linebacker has also ran back two kickoffs, one for an 85-yard touchdown.

Surprisingly, despite their record, North will make it into the playoffs because they went 2-1 in league play. Their first playoff game will be against Millard West. West was the first team they played this season and lost by six points. "We had two muffed punts that they recovered within our ten yard line. I think it will be a different story this time around and we can make a run in the playoffs."

His playoff schedule will determine when his CU visit will be. "I will probably take it the weekend after the playoffs are over - so maybe later this month. I am visiting Stanford on December 3rd."

Three other schools he is still interested in are Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Kansas State. "I will decide on a school after I take all of my visits."
