State's Top Receiver Favors Colorado

</b>Jarrell Yates</b> is the most electrifying wide receiver within the state borders this year. He has posted 700 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns on the season for 7-3 Montbello. Yates has been to many Colorado home games and favors the Buffs slightly over another Big 12 school.

"I'd say Colorado and Kansas are my leaders," explained Yates. "Kansas has sent me an offer, and that is my only one. I think CU, Utah, and San Diego State are close. Wyoming has told me they just need to see some senior film and I am not sure what the other schools are waiting on."

Chances are these other colleges are waiting on a test score since Yates was not happy with his first attempt at the ACT. He will be taking it again in December. He has interest in all of the schools that are showing the most interest in him, plus Texas, Hawaii, and UCLA. "My coach (Oliver Lucas) has told me that Texas will be calling me soon. I know that Michael Houston really likes them, too. I was born in Houston and I still have a lot of family there."

The Texas coaches were in attendance for last week's game with South when Yates caught six balls for 194 yards and three touchdowns.

UCLA is a school he would like to hear more from. "I have thought a lot about them but haven't heard much from their staff. That is a place I would definitely like to hear more from."

Yates explains his interest in CU. "If I had to pick between them and Kansas I would say that I like CU a little more. It is a great school and I have been up there many times and see that the players have a good chemistry with each other and with the coaches."

The receiver was in attendance at the North Texas and Oklahoma State games. He was going to try to make it this weekend for the Kansas State game but can't due to his team playing on Saturday. They are opening the playoffs against Regis, a team that beat them 15-3 at the inception of this season.

Yates has not scheduled any visits yet. "I would like to get my season over with first, and then I'll figure that out."

He carries a 3.2 core GPA and is unsure of what he would like to major in.
