Ellison Impressed with CU Tradition

Kevin Ellison has the Buffs as high as anyone after his official visit for the Kansas State game. We find out what impressed him so much...

"I had a good time," said Ellison. "It was a fun trip and I really enjoyed the coaching staff. Coach (Shawn) Simms and (Brian) Cabral stood out to me, but really I liked all of them. They told me that they are looking for athletic linebackers to play the run and pass."

The CU staff apparently pointed out one specific position to the nation's no.46 linebacker they believe he could fill in nicely at. "They were talking to me about the Buff Linebacker position and telling me that they will need someone to compete for Brian Iwuh's spot when he leaves."

Besides the staff, another thing really appealed to Ellison. "I found out about their tradition. I did not know they had such great tradition. Coach Cabral was telling me about all of the linebackers he has put into the NFL and their defensive coordinator (Mike Hankwitz) was there when they won the national championship. I didn't know any of that."

As for the game..."The game was great," he went on. "For them to win it in the last four seconds was very exciting."

Ellison was accompanied on the trip by one of his older brothers. "He really liked it, too."

The Buffs are now solid in his top five. "That moves them up on my list. I was not highly interested in them at first, but I am now. I like them, USC, Cal, Oregon State, and Arizona. I don't have any favorites - they are all even."

He will visit USC (Nov.27th), Oregon State (Dec.3rd), and Cal (Dec.10th). He has already taken an unofficial visit to Arizona and is deciding whether or not he will make it back for an official trip.

Redondo Union is 8-2 on the season and takes on Paramount in the first round of the playoffs, this Friday.
