McKay II recorded 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions this fall. He also returned two kickoffs. One went for 95 yards and the other went for 86.
He currently has five offers, including a recent one that came from Colorado. "Colorado started recruiting me like a month ago. My teammate is Darian Hagan Jr. and his dad coaches there. My guess is his dad will be a head coach one day. I think that if I went there that he would also treat me like a son. I have talked to their coaches on the phone and they seem real cool."
Coach Simms is after him for the Buffs. "He came by my house last week for a visit and he said he would be back with Coach Barnett during the first week in January."
McKay II visited Oregon State the weekend of November 5th, Washington State December 10th, and Fresno State last weekend. "I kind of felt at home at Washington State because there are a lot of guys there from L.A. My parents really liked Fresno last weekend. I don't have a favorite and they don't have a favorite. They just appreciate every coach that comes into our living room offering a scholarship. That is a big thing for them. I think they will come on the SDSU visit with me, but not Colorado."
He will visit San Diego State the weekend before CU. "I am pretty sure I will take all of my visits. I will base my decision off of what I see on the visits."
It is always popular for many recruits to commit during post-season all-star games, but McKay II will not be going that route, even though he will be participating in the Cal-Florida Bowl (Jan.2nd). "I will not be ready to make it by then like a lot of other guys. I need longer to decide."
Of the schools recruiting him, he believes that Oregon State, Fresno State, and Washington State are showing the most attention. "Oregon State wants me to make a decision and Fresno State and Washington State are really coming after me hard."
He says that all schools like him as a corner. The Crenshaw star believes that he will have an opportunity for early playing time at all of his finalists.
McKay II carries a 3.3 core GPA and scored a 750 on his first SAT. He will be re-taking it on January 22nd and believes he will have no problem with it the second time around. He would like to major in Graphic Arts.
