Paul Backowski verbally committed to Indiana in July, but has reconsidered that commitment since head coach Gerry DiNardo was fired. He is scheduled for an official visit to Colorado this weekend. He said his interest in the Buffs at this point is "high."

"I'm verbally committed to Indiana, but because of the firing, I guess I'm exploring my options," Backowski said Friday.

Backowski was named all-state first-team at offensive tackle in Minnesota in 2004 by the Associated Press. He had 48 pancake blocks. He also played defensive end for Foley High and recorded three sacks and nine tackles for loss.

Foley went 7-1 on the season before losing in the first round of the playoffs. Backowski also plays basketball. He is projected as an offensive tackle in college.

Coach Dave Borbely has been recruiting Backowski for the Buffs.

"He's awesome," Backowski said of the CU offensive line coach. "He's a good guy. He's honest and knows what he's talking about. He has the characteristics of a coach I'll hopefully have."

Backowski carries a 3.3 GPA and scored a 23 on the ACT. BSN will catch up with Backowski after his visit to get his impressions.
