Gardner McKay II is headed to Boulder.

"I'm going to Colorado," McKay told Scout.com on Tuesday afternoon.

"(The Colorado coaches) are coming in tonight at 8pm to see me -- but I've already told them, and I'm sure about it," said the 6-0, 160-pound Los Angeles native. "I talked to them during the recruiting trip but I just wanted to let my mother and father know what went on and everything."

McKay chose Colorado over Oregon State, Fresno State, Washington State and SDSU among others. A deciding factor was his fifth and final official visit to Colorado this past weekend.

"It was a place that was different than any other place," said McKay. "I just felt at home there for some reason."

McKay, who had an excellent week of practice in Miami followed by a strong performance at the CaliFlorida Bowl, projects at cornerback for Colorado.

On the year for Crenshaw High, McKay nabbed seven interceptions from his defensive back spot. He also played wide receiver and handled kickoff return duties, taking two of them back for scores.
