Lakewood Athlete Hearing the Most From CU

Zac Pauga is one of very few juniors that made any kind of first team all-state lists. He accomplished this feat as a defensive end at the 4A level. He grew up a CU fan and says the Buffs are showing more interest in him than any other school.

"Colorado has a good program," said Pauga. "I have been watching and following them for a long time. It is also a good school to get an education at. I have been receiving the most mail from them."

As a junior, Zac Pauga rushed 128 times for 884 yards and 11 touchdowns. On defense, he had 65 tackles (40 solo), nine sacks, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. Pauga was named first team all-conference at running back. He was also named first team all-conference and state at defensive end.

He is a heady player that gives his all. "I am always hustling and giving 100 percent. I know the game of football very well."

Green Mountain Head Coach Don McGatlin says of Pauga, "He is an extremely talented athlete. If he continues to grow, he could be a force as a defensive end in college."

The only other schools Pauga lists at this point are Hawaii and Colorado State, and he does not claim a favorite. He is half Samoan and is also Mormon. "My dad wants me to go to BYU. My mom does not have a preference."

Pauga was born and raised in Colorado, but he visits Hawaii a lot because he has family there.

The versatile athlete carries a 3.1 core GPA and has not scheduled to take either test. He is undecided on a major.
