"They gave me the paper telling me I have a scholarship offer there," said Rick Brewer. "I was real excited about it and so were my parents. They told me what they thought about my abilities and also that they liked my academics. Coach Barnett said that he wants me to be a Buffalo and that he thinks I am a good kid."
Brewer is being recruited to CU by Coach Wristen and he had a chance to speak with all the coaches while at CU. So where do the Buffs stand for him now? "I love the sense of family at Colorado. It is a big factor for me that I could stay close to home and have my parents there. I mean, they would support me if I left the state, too, but having them there to physically support me is great.
"I don't have much to compare CU to right now so I can't really say I have a leader. The only other school that I have seen is Minnesota when I went there last summer. My cousin, Jack Brewer, played there so he showed me around. Jack plays for the New York Giants now. Since I haven't seen many schools, I wouldn't say I have a favorite."
As a junior, he had 145 tackles, four fumble recoveries, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. Brewer was named second team all-conference.
He speaks of his skills. "I have good speed and flexibility. I turn my hips well and I make good contact. I have a lot of hitting ability."
The linebacker/strong safety also plans on attending CU's next junior day, April 2nd.
