Austin Can Stretch the Field

Terrence Austin is one of the fastest receiver prospects in the nation. Colorado recently offered him and the Buffs are definitely in contention for his services. Austin is another example of the attempts by the CU staff to get back into the major powerhouse programs in Southern California. The receiver hails from Long Beach Poly.

Height: 5-11
Weight: 170

From: Long Beach, California
High School: Poly

As a junior, Terrence Austin had 39 catches for 648 yards and eight touchdowns. His post-season honors included All-CIF, All-league and a member of the Long Beach Press Telegram's Dream Team.

He is up to three written offers. "UCLA was the first school to offer me," he explained. "Then last week I received an offer from Colorado on Tuesday and Washington State on Thursday."

Austin has his schools of preference, in order. "UCLA is number one, Cal is number two, Oregon is next, then Colorado, then Washington.

"UCLA was the first school to really come in on me and then Colorado was the next school that started coming hard. UCLA has overwhelmed me. Nobody has topped them at this point and nobody is coming close to what they can offer. I am going to check out the other schools and I will give everyone a fair chance, but right now UCLA is tough to beat. Their depth chart looks pretty open. Cal's depth chart seems pretty stacked because they have more young guys. Colorado's depth chart looks a lot like UCLA's."

Austin has had some extended conversations with Coach Hagan at CU. "I never knew much about Colorado until I started speaking with him. He tells me that they need a speed receiver there because they don't really have any guys that can stretch the field. He believes that I could come in there and make an immediate impact. I am anxious to take a trip there to check it out."

The receiver will be attending the All-American combine in Berkeley, May 15th.

Austin is currently unsure of what other camps he will attend.
