Brewer is Commit Number One

Colorado ended up getting its first commitment from Mullen High School after all. This is after the Buffs' original first commitment, Chris Guarnero, de-committed and is now open. Linebacker/Strong Safety prospect Ricky Brewer gave the CU staff his word last Friday that he plans on attending the University of Colorado. Scout.com witnessed Brewer in action just a couple weeks back. He is a player with a good attitude and a lot of promise.

Brewer is being recruited to Colorado at the "Buff" linebacker position that is currently manned by Senior Brian Iwuh.

"I basically knew where I wanted to be," said Ricky Brewer after going back and forth between CU and Colorado State for a couple weeks. "I like Coach Barnett and I have faith they will renew his contract. I wanted to stay close to home so it works out fine. I committed to Coach Wristen last Friday."

Brewer also likes the fact that he'll have familiar faces in Boulder. "I look forward to playing with Maurice Greer and Ben Burney. I hope that Chris Carney can come with me, too. He is my best friend and I would love for him to be there with me. I will also be recruiting Chris Guarnero as hard as I can now."

Chris Carney is a good looking corner prospect from Mullen with a current offer from Northern Colorado. Chris Guarnero is now up to 10 written offers.

Brewer's only camp intention right now is to head to CU's one-day camp that will be held at the end of the summer. "I don't plan on going to any other camps. If other schools come in on me I will listen, but I am sure where I want to go."

The future Buff carries a 3.2 core GPA and is taking the ACT on June 11th. He would like to major in Sports Management.
