Terrence Austin Update

Terrence Austin is up to nine offers and is looking hard at two schools. He has scheduled one visit. The sure-handed deep threat remains in close contact with CU assistant coach, Darian Hagan. He is starting to think about the other visits he'll be taking. Inside, we get the latest on the nation's no.11 ranked wide receiver.

Terrence Austin now has written offers from UCLA, Notre Dame, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, and Washington State. He has scheduled a visit to Notre Dame on October 15th.

The Fighting Irish are making a hard case for him. "They are right behind UCLA now," he said. "UCLA is still in the lead but Notre Dame is really coming on. Both of those staffs write me letters everyday. I get a letter from each staff member from those two schools everyday. After them, I like Oregon. After that, all of the schools that have offered me are pretty even."

Arizona and Arizona State are two new schools that have thrown their hats into the ring with offers. "Arizona State has (secondary coach) Mark Carrier and he is a former (Long Beach Poly) Jackrabbit. So they want to get a pipeline going there. I saw how Rudy Burgess made an impact there as a freshman and that shows me they are not afraid to play freshman.

"I really like the depth chart at Arizona. I really like the depth charts of all the schools that have offered me. I think Arizona is a school I could make an impact at. I have not followed them too much in the past but I like Coach (receivers coach Charlie) Williams and Coach (Mike) Stoops. The staff seems real good. I will probably have to take a trip there."

How currently involved is CU with the receiver? "Coach Hagan and I do a lot of text messaging. He is a real cool guy. I am still interested in them."

Long Beach Poly plays in their first game, September 9th, against Corona Centennial. "We were the only team to beat them last year so they want revenge. It should be a good game."

Austin is fully qualified with a score of 1200 on the new SAT, a score of 18 on the ACT, and a 3.2 core GPA.
