Sanders in the Spotlight

Behind Texas-bound running back Michael Houston last fall, Denver South product R.J. Sanders didn't get many reps. But when he did, he made the most out of them with 500 yards and six touchdowns. Even with limited film, a few schools have seen enough from him to merit offers. Sanders was at CU on Saturday for the Buffs' scrimmage. He knows Colorado is short on running backs.

R.J. Sanders has written offers from Iowa State, Washington, Colorado State and New Mexico State. "My top two are Washington and Iowa State. I really like both those schools.

"Iowa State has a good staff and good facilities. I like where it is at. It is a calm city."

The three schools that round out his top five are CSU, Kansas State and UCLA. He is hoping to hear more from the Wildcats. "It is kind of a different place. They have a good Business school that I have been looking into. They also have a good staff."

He has been up to Boulder a few times and has lukewarm interest in the Buffs. "I like them a little bit. I was there on Saturday and it was nice. Coach Hagan tells me he would love to see me there and I know they need running backs, but they haven't offered me."

Even if the Buffs do offer, it may not be enough to keep Sanders in the Centennial State. "Leaving the state is something I want to do at this point."

He carries a 3.4 core GPA and scored a 17 on the ACT. Sanders would like to major in Business or Business Management.

South gets their season underway versus Butch Lewis and Regis Jesuit, September 3rd.
