Buffs Go Harder After Fullback

Sabino High School in Tucson has been good to Colorado in the past. The Sabercats sent Fullback David Andrews to Colorado under head coach Rick Neuheisel. Andrews is now the linebackers/running backs coach at Sabino and he is putting in a good word for Colorado with Brooks Reed. Reed has five offers and CU is beginning to show strong interest.

"I have been hearing more from Colorado lately," said Brooks Reed. "David Andrews tells me that when he was being recruited he had over 75 offers and he took all of his official visits, but when he visited Colorado he just knew that was the place for him. That sounds cool to me and it makes me want to take a visit there."

Reed has written offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Purdue, Colorado State, and Cal. All schools involved like him as a H-back/tight end/fullback, except Purdue. The Boilermakers see him as a defensive end. Reed will play all the aforementioned positions on offense this fall, plus linebacker on defense. "I like handling the ball so I think the H-back position really fits my style of play."

He has not scheduled any official visits and says recruiting has kind of been on the backburner. "It is calm right now, but I expect it to get busy again in a couple weeks once the season starts and coaches are allowed to start calling again. It has been a nice break."

Reed does not claim a favorite amongst the schools that have offered him. "I like the ones that are showing me the most attention, and I also like UCLA and am semi-interested in Colorado. I think UCLA just signed a fullback, though."

The talented athlete carries a 2.5 core GPA and scored an 865 on the SAT.

Sabino gets their season underway against Springfield, Oregon, on September 2nd.
