Minnesota Lineman Brandon Hoey

Colorado went into Minnesota last year and pulled out offensive tackle Paul Backowski. The Buffs are trying a similar feat this recruiting class with their recruitment of Brandon Hoey from Arden Hills, Minnesota. Hoey has 10 scholarship offers and claims the Buffs are right in the thick of things.

Brandon Hoey is up to ten written offers; Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Colorado, Wyoming, Indiana, Central Florida, Arkansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. "I really like all those schools right now," Hoey remarked. "I am not ready to rule out anybody so I am taking all of the schools that have offered me seriously."

Colorado, Central Florida and Nebraska like him as an offensive lineman. All others see him as a defensive lineman (most likely tackle). "I have always played some offensive line and some defensive line, so I like both sides of the ball. It really doesn't matter to me where I play when I get to college."

Hoey lists his strengths as a player. "I can control my opponent on either side of the ball. I also have good speed and agility."

He has not scheduled any official visits yet. Three Big 12 North schools have as good a shot as any of getting visits. "Iowa State has great coaches. That really sticks out to me about them - they have really good coaches. I can't emphasize enough how personable their coaches are.

"The main thing I like about Nebraska is their academics and how they always have a lot of academic All-Americans. They have a great program and have had many Heisman winners.

"Colorado is a good program with a good history. I don't know the coaches too well, yet, but I am assuming I will take a trip there."

Hoey's mom was nearby duirng the conversation and she says her favorite schools are Iowa State, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. "My dad isn't here so I am not sure who his favorites are."

The lineman carries a 3.0 core GPA and scored a 23 on the ACT. He is undecided on a major.
