Patterson Told He Can Play Immediately at CU

Colorado needs a serious dose of speed at the receiver position and a player like Travon Patterson from Long Beach Poly could be the remedy. CU is showing a lot of interest in Patterson and the wideout believes he could help the Buffs.

Bench: 185 (10 times)

High School: Poly

Travon Patterson claims current written offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Utah, and Arizona. "I also have verbal offers from Colorado and Washington," he explains.

As a junior, he had 26 catches for 610 yards and three touchdowns.

Long Beach Poly has had some unbelievable options at wideout the last couple years with DeSean Jackson, Patterson and Terrence Austin. There were hardly enough balls to go around. With Jackson off at Cal, this year there will be more to go around and Patterson believes him and Austin will get equal opportunities. "I expect us to get equal reps this year. In practice, we have both been getting a lot of looks so we should both have strong seasons."

Patterson and Austin are very similar in height, weight and speed so it is tough to decipher between the duo. "I think Terrence is a better route-runner but I am faster."

The blazer was part of the winning 4x400 team in the National Scholastic Indoor Championships, held in New York.

Colorado is a school he is taking a hard look at, but it is not one of his top six. "I like Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Utah, and Arizona.

"I do like Colorado, too. Coach Hagan says that I could play right away with my speed. He says they could really use me."

He says the Oregon Ducks are recruiting the hardest.

Patterson does not have any official visits scheduled. "I will probably start setting those up next month."

Poly gets their season underway against Corona Centennial, tomorrow.
