Will CU Offer Jeron Johnson?

Colorado is taking a hard look at a few players from Compton Dominguez High School. They have already offered receiver Richard Sherman and offensive lineman Sonny Tevaga. Safety Jeron Johnson recently sent his film to the CU staff and says that Colorado is one of his top two. He was his league's co-defensive MVP last season.

As a junior, Jeron Johnson had four sacks, three forced fumbles (one returned for a touchdown) and one interception (returned for a touchdown). Johnson was named the co-defensive MVP of the league. "I have the ability to read the play and react to the ball," he says. "I have a lot of experience because I have been playing football a long time."

Johnson plays at linebacker and strong safety for Dominguez. He also sees time at fullback on occasion.

Since the beginning of the month, the defender has received phone calls from UNLV, Utah and Washington. "I like those schools, but my top two are Colorado and Arizona. I would love to go to either one of those places. I am a big fan of both their defenses.

"I have been watching Colorado since I started high school and have always liked them. I sent them my tape recently, so I am waiting to hear back from them to see what they thought.

"Arizona is close to home and I think if I went there my mom could attend the games."

Johnson carries a 2.4 core GPA and is taking the ACT next month. He would like to major in Broadcasting.
