"It went real well," Jonathan Hawkins said about his visit to Boulder. "We got in (he and D'Aundre Reed) and met with Coach Cabral and then went to a team dinner. Then Saturday morning we ate breakfast with the team and went to chapel with the team. After that, we went on a tour of the training room and weight room, then met with some school officials. We got to speak with some Business and Engineering professors.
"After that, we went to the game and were on the sidelines at first, then they took us like three rows up from the 20-yard line. My host, Ben Burney, took us to some of the hang-outs afterwards and just showed us what everybody does after the games. He showed us some of the hot spots around Boulder."
Hawkins says the idea to commit to the Buffs' staff was something he planned out. "I pretty much knew I was going to go there since I went to their summer camp. I had seen other places like Arizona, Arizona State and UNLV, but Colorado was the best fit for me. Playing in the Big 12, you get to play against some of the top colleges in the nation. I think I might be able to come in and play there my first year. Coach Bray is real excited I am coming. He says that he needs corners that have speed and can break fast on the wide reecivers and he thinks I am one of those corners. He also think I'll come in and compete."
His fastest 40 time recorded is a 4.48.
The corner had planned on visiting Fresno State, and maybe Arizona. But, he now says that probably won't happen. "I probably won't see those places but I am not sure. We'll just see what happens."
In Rancho Verde's last game, a 36-35 win, Hawkins had nine tackles and an interception.
They play Vista Murietta, this Friday.
