Turpin Receives CU Offer, Sets Visit

Another player that Coach Hawkins and staff were recruiting at Boise State that they have now offered at Colorado is Defensive Lineman Toby Turpin from Los Alamitos, California. Since his senior season ended, Turpin has received five offers and he could project as an end or d-tackle in college. Colorado needs players at both positions.

As a senior, Toby Turpin had nine sacks and two interceptions. He was named the top defensive lineman in the league and received first team all-county honors. As a junior, he had 63 tackles and eight sacks. "I am good with my hands so I can get off blocks easily. I am strong and quick off the line."

Turpin has written offers from Boise State, Colorado, Washington, Washington State, and Arizona State. "I already visisted Boise on December 9th. I am going to Washington January 6th, Colorado January 13th, Washington State January 20th, and Arizona State on the 27th.

"Coach (Kent) Riddle was recruiting me at Boise but now he is going to Colorado and Coach Hawkins told me I have an offer there, too. I really liked the staff at Boise and Colorado was a school I was always interested in. I talked with Coach Hawkins this morning and he just told me that he really wants me at Colorado and that he was going to send me a bunch of info on the school."

Turpin's decision may come close to signing day. "I am going to take all my visits before deciding so I don't have a favorite right now. My mom will be going with me on all the trips and she is not leaning anywhere, either."

Turpin says that the new staff at Boise and the current staff at Colorado like him as a defensive end while Arizona State and Washington State like him at d-tackle. "I prefer to play end."

The d-lineman carries a 2.8 core GPA and scored a 1400 on the SAT.
