Buffs in the Top Two for Sumler

Now that it is official that CU linebackers coach Brian Cabral will be retained, you can expect the Buffs to keep recruiting many of the players he was after in the San Diego area. Demetrius Sumler was the No.1 running back on the board for Boise State and since Dan Hawkins has taken over for the Buffs, the two have spoken about possibly getting Sumler to Boulder.

"Coach Hawkins and I have been sending text messages back and forth," Demetrius Sumler explained. "He just told me he is interested in getting me in for a visit to Colorado. Coach (Kent) Riddle also called me and said that I am still the top running back he wants to coach. I will call the coaches real soon and try to get a visit scheduled with Colorado."

Sumler has already taken a visit to Boise State and the Broncos and Buffs now appear to be in the lead. "Those are my top two and really the only schools I am looking at. Nevada also offered me recently but I am not really considering them. I will probably take a trip to Colorado, and if they offer me, I will come back and make my decision."

As a senior, Sumler finsihed with close to 2,500 yards rushing and 33 touchdowns. He was named first team all-league, CIF and North County. Sumler was also named league player of the year.
