Kiesau, 33, coached several successful receivers at Cal in recent years. In 2004, Cal wide out Geoff McArthur set Golden Bear career marks in receptions and receiving yards. The year before, McArthur was second in the nation in receiving (85 catches, 1,504 yards), and was named a second-team All-American.
Cal head coach Jeff Tedford hired Kiesau from Utah State, where Kiesau coached running backs (2000) and receivers (2001).
Born in Pasadena, Calif., Kiesau has ties to southern California, as prior to starting as quarterback at Portland State as a senior in 1995, he earned JC Gridwire All-American status at Glendale Community College in '92 (in SoCal), and coached high school in southern California.
With Kiesau coaching receivers, it appears Darian Hagan will coach running backs and Kent Riddle will oversee special teams and tight ends.
It's also notable that with Kiesau on board the new Colorado offensive staff includes coaches from three of the most prolific college offenses in recent years: Boise State, Arizona State and California.
