Compton CC Linebacker Visiting This Weekend

Colorado seems to be trying to develop a strong relationship with Compton Community College. After signing running back Thomas Perez, the Buffs' staff is now turning their attention to outside linebacker prospect, Larry Hutchinson. The former standout from Franklin High School in Seattle is leaning towards CU.

As a sophomore, Larry Hutchinson had 85 tackles, 13 sacks and three forced fumbles. Hutchinson was named first team all-conference.

Hutchinson is a January of '06 graduate and will have three years to play two. The linebacker didn't head to a four year college out of high school because he never took the SAT's. At Compton CC, he plays safety and linebacker and is being recruited as a linebacker to the next level. "I am a sideline-to-sideline player and I am always on the attack," Hutchinson boasts. "I give 100 percent every game for four quarters."

He is being recruited by CU, Idaho, Louisiana-Lafayette and Tennessee State. "I like Colorado right now and I am visiting there tomorrow. I like the atmosphere out there and I have a boy (Cleodis Floyd) that goes to Colorado State. It will be cool to play against him. Plus, Thomas Perez is going there and he's my boy."

At this point, CU has only offered him verbally. "I hope to get the real thing this weekend. I think it will happen."

The BSN will catch-up with Hutchinson after the trip to get his thoughts.
