Hutchinson Expects A CU Offer (Free Content)

Larry Hutchinson was one of six official visitors over the weekend and like the others, he really enjoyed the trip. Coach Hawkins is calling the Compton CC defender in the next couple days to let him know what CU plans on doing in regards to an offer. If the new staff at Colorado extends a scholarship, chances are great that he will accept.

"I really liked my trip," Larry Hutchinson said. "I liked all the coaches and I liked everyone else I met there, too. I liked the system they'll be running and I like the overall attitude. Everyone seems very friendly and unified."

Hutchinson came in at 5-11 1/2, 182 pounds when CU weighed him in. "They did like me as a linebacker but now they might be looking at me as a strong safety," he explained, "Coach Hawkins is calling me in the next couple of days to let me know where I stand with them. I expect to get an offer. I really hope I do get an offer to Colorado. I would say they are at the top of my list.

"Coach Hawkins said they wanted to review my tape a little more and see if I can play strong safety for them. I am a hard hitter and I love to hit, so that suits me just fine."

The JC prospect's host on the official trip was offensive lineman, Jack Tipton. "I met a lot of the players and their friends. Like I said, I met a lot of good people up there."

If Colorado does offer, the choice will be simple for Hutchinson, he'll be a Buff. In the meantime, he is planning a visit to Idaho for this weekend.

As a sophomore, the versatile defender had 85 tackles, 13 sacks and three forced fumbles. Hutchinson was named first team all-conference.

Hutchinson is a January of '06 graduate and will have three years to play two. The linebacker didn't head to a four year college out of high school because he never took the SAT's.
