Jones Visiting Next Weekend

Colorado would like to grab at least two linebackers this recruiting cycle so they are still entertaining some options. One option is Fremont High's Corey Jones. Jones led his league in tackles this past season. He is visiting Boulder next weekend.

As a senior, Corey Jones had 104 tackles, seven sacks and one interception. He led his league in tackles. On offense, he head 17 catches for 165 yards. Jones was named first team all-conference.

He is being recruited specifically at linebacker. "I have great technique when I tackle," Jones said. "I am pretty consistent every game."

His recruiting coach at CU, Darian Hagan, and his father, the head coach at Fremont, used to coach at Locke High School together. "My dad and Coach Hagan have an old connection. Last week Coach Hagan called and said they are looking to offer me and they want to get me there on a trip. So I am going to Colorado next Saturday after I take the SAT's."

Other schools showing interest in Jones are Washington and Washington State. "They have both talked to me a lot, but neither one of them have offered or scheduled a visit with me."

Jones has many reasons for favoring Colorado. "I am a big Big 12 fan. I always remember growing up and watching Texas play Oklahoma and Colorado play Texas. It is the conference I have always wanted to play in."

The linebacker has had an in-home visit from CU and Idaho State.

He carries a 3.0 core GPA and would like to major in Communications.
