Will Smith be a Buff Today? (Free Content)

Getting in touch with James Smith this week has been tougher than getting in contact with the President. He does not want to speak with reporters as he makes his final college decision. That decision could come as soon as this afternoon.

As a senior, James Smith had 53 catches for 1,123 yards and 14 touchdowns. On defense, he had 47 tackles, 10 pass deflections and two interceptions. Smith was named first team all-conference at receiver and first team all-league both ways.

He made a commitment to Washington State a few weeks ago before ever visiting Pullman. The weekend after making the commitment, he did make the trek to the Northwest and came back and said he probably would not take anymore visits. That included a visit he had scheduled with Colorado for the upcoming weekend.

The CU staff convinced Smith to take the trip and since then his head has been spinning. "I am really not sure what I am going to do," he recently told the Buffalo Sports News. "I had a great trip to Boulder and I could see myself fitting in there. On the other hand, I could also see myself at Washington State."

After mulling over the decision for a week and speaking with both coaching staffs numerous times. Smith could be making his decision as soon as today. "Three coaches are coming from Colorado to my house. I don't have school so they're coming for an in-home visit. It will be coach (Dan) Hawkins, (Darian) Hagan and coach (Greg) Brown. After they meet with my family, I will sit and talk with my family about it and make a decision. It might happen tomorrow, it might not. I am really not sure. I am very torn right now and keep going back and forth between the schools."

Colorado has told Smith they like him as a cornerback to start, but chances are with his size he'll end up at safety. The BSN will attempt to speak with Smith tomorrow afternoon to see if he has arrived at a decision, or will wait it out a little longer.
