As a senior, R.J. Stanford had 233 carries for 1,800 yards and 27 touchdowns. He was named first team all-league and CIF and was his league's offensive player of the year. "I have a natural talent and ability," Stanford boasts. "I can do the things a coach can't teach. I do whatever I have to do to get the yards. I hit the corner hard and once I am there I put ont he after-burners. I am versatile so I can run inside and outside and play in the slot."

Stanford took a trip to Utah back on January 6th and committed to the Utes soon after. Colorado's new coaching staff recently came in on him and he was contemplating a trip to Boulder over the weekend. "Honestly, I was going to take the trip, but then I made up my mind today that I am not going to and I am going to stay with Utah," he explained. "I just don't know too much about Colorado this late in the game and I don't think I want to take the risk.

"Coach (Ron) Collins came by my school last week and then I spoke with Coach (Greg) Brown on the phone. He told me that while I took my visit to Colorado this weekend, that Coach Hawkins would do an in-home visit with my mom on Saturday. I have not heard from the coaches in the last couple days so I am going to call and let them know that I won't be taking the visit."

Colorado ahd been recruiting Stanford as a running back/athlete. He is fully qualified.
