At the San Diego Hall of Champions today in front of over 100 people, Demetrius Sumler made his commitment to Colorado "official". "After the coaches came over form Boise State, I knew that Colorado would be a good fit for me because I liked the coaching staff," Sumler explained. "So when I took my trip there I wanted to see what my position coach would be like and also what their running back situation was like. Once I saw they were both good I decided to go there. The coaches told me they are excited because they also have some good lineman coming in to play in front of me."

As a senior, Demetrius Sumler finished with close to 2,500 yards rushing and 33 touchdowns. He was named first team all-league, CIF and North County. Sumler was also named league player of the year.

As a junior, he rushed for 1,735 yards and 21 touchdowns on 225 carries. He also had four receiving touchdowns. Sumler was named second team all-CIF and second team all-state underclass. He was the co-league player of the year with Michigan-bound quarterback, Jason Forcier.

Sumler finished his career as the all-time leading running back in the history of San Diego with 5,560 yards.
