2007 CU Prospect: RB James Davis

It happens every year in recruiting. Coaches go to a high school to recruit a player for their current class and they end up finding a player they want to go after for the next recruiting cycle. This was the case in the recruitment of Cha'pelle Brown for this class. Colorado now likes his teammate, running back/cornerback James Davis. Davis has CU in his early top four.

As a junior, James Davis rushed for 1,547 yards and 24 touchdowns on 179 carries. Davis also had nine receptions for 212 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he had 36 tackles and three interceptions. Davis was named first team all-league and second team all-valley at running back.

He is already receiving letters from a variety of schools. "I have been getting stuff from Cal, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Duke, North Carolina, and Boston College," Davis claims.

He has an early top four. "My favorite right now is Cal. I also like Notre Dame, UCLA, and Colorado. My teammate and good friend is going to Colorado so they are in the mix.

"Coach Darian Hagan is a cool guy. I need to find out more about the school."

He started on the opposite corner of recent CU signee, Cha'pelle Brown, and the two are very good friends. He gave The Buffalo Sports News his thoughts on the future Buff. "Cha'pelle is a great player and a hard worker. Working with him in the off-season is painful. He is a major competitor. He can't even stand to lose an argument."

Davis is a talented athlete on both sides of the ball, but it seems early on that schools like him on offense, at tailback. "I have a great ability to see the field. I really understand the game."

He carries a 2.74 core GPA and takes his SAT next month. Davis would like to major in something that has to do with computers.
