2007 CU Prospect: Eric Brooks

Colorado landed two tight ends last year but they are still running a little thin at the position for the future. No doubt the new Buff staff will be looking for a player at the spot this recruiting cycle. Eric Brooks is an interesting prospect that has a friend entering CU this fall. Brooks received his first offer last week.

As a junior, Eric Brooks had 40 receptions for 350 yards and four touchdowns from his tight end position and added 30 solo tackles and four sacks from his defensive end spot. Brooks was named first team all-league and the league's offensive player of the year. He was also named honorable mention all-area.

The versatile athlete can play on either side of the ball in college, but believes he may be best-suited for offense, at tight end. "I am good at route-running and getting open," Brooks said. "The main thing I want to work on is improving my blocking."

He is mainly hearing from Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, Colorado State, and Oregon State. "I like all those schools, and I don't have any favorites at this time."

CU is another school on his list. "I do like Colorado. My friend Cha'pelle Brown is going there and also my friend James Davis is thinking of going there."

CU running back prospect James Davis has transferred to Monrovia and will play his senior season there.

Brooks received his first offer a few days ago. "Colorado State says I have an offer on the way in the mail."

He is unsure of any junior days or summer camps he will attend. Brooks carries a 3.6 core GPA and is taking the ACT in April. He is undecided on a major.
