Buffs Offer Another In-State Player

Colorado recently extended their fourth offer to a player within the state borders as Northglenn athlete Anthony Perkins received his official letter. Perkins is being recruited by CU as a corner and is favoring the Buffs.

As a junior, Anthony Perkins had 1,200 yards passing and 10 touchdowns. He also rushed for 500 yards and 17 touchdowns. On defense, in two games at free safety, he had two interceptions. Perkins was named first team all-conference and area. He was also named the Front Range Offensive Player of the Year and honorable mention all-state.

Perkins is receiving some nice early recruiting attention and it appears he is being recruited as a cornerback. "I move well on the field," he says. "I am quick and fast. I am a smart player that works hard. For the rest of my high school career I just really want to work on my strength and speed."

The Buffs were the first school to jump in the mix and offer Perkins. "CU offered me a couple weeks ago. I have been to three or four of their practices. I usually go by myself or with my dad. I have been speaking with both Coach Hawk and Coach (Greg) Brown. They tell me they like me as a corner. I would say Colorado is probably the highest school on my list right now.

"I like it because it is close and I grew up a fan of them. My mom also would like me to stay close."

Perkins went on to give his impressions of the CU coaches. "Coach Brown seems to know his stuff. I wouldn't mind being coached by him."

Despite the strong interest in the Buffs, Perkins says he is not ready to make any kind of decision. "It is hard to tell when that will happen. I will probably wait it out for a bit. I have some other schools showing interest in me like Kansas State and New Mexico. I have also been hearing from, and I like, Oklahoma, TCU, and Colorado State."

The cornerback prospect will attend the K-State Junior Day and spring game on April 22nd.

Perkins carries a 4.0 core GPA and scored a 26 on the ACT. He will take the SAT in June and is undecided on a major.
