As a junior, Charlie Carmichael averaged 4-5 pancake blocks a game. He was named first team all-league and second team all-CIF. "I am nasty and aggressive on the field," he says. "I hit hard out there. I have had some great coaching and that has helped me out with my technique."
The O-lineman has a ton of upside as he has only been playing football for three years. "I was always all about basketball. I never even played or thought about playing football until I was a freshman. My first year I played at defensive tackle so I have been playing o-tackle the past two years."
Carmichael has made quite the impression on colleges across the nation. He has written offers from Arizona State, Washington, Mississippi, San Diego State, and UNLV. "I also received a verbal offer from Colorado about two weeks ago. They told me they would be faxing my offer over soon, but I haven't received it yet. I spoke with Coach (Darian) Hagan."
As for his thoughts on CU, the Notre Dame standout says, "I don't know much about Colorado. All I know is that my dad says they are a pretty good program. He says they have a good history. I also know that they had a rough year last year."
Carmichael has attended junior days at ASU, SDSU, UCLA, and USC. This week he'll be making a northwest trip. "I am heading on unofficial trips to Oregon, Oregon State and Washington. I have already been to Cal."
He says no school has told him what o-line position they like him at yet. "I will play wherever anyone needs me. I don't have a preference along the line."
Carmichael carries a 3.0 core GPA and scored a 1750 on the SAT. He would like to major in Pre-Law and either become a Sports Agent or a Lawyer. He'll be taking the ACT in June.
