It came as no surprise to anyone that Thursday the University of Colorado announced the hiring of former player Vance Joseph as CU's new secondary coach.
Joseph spent two years in Boulder as a graduate assistant and was hired at the University of Wyoming in April to coach the Cowboys secondary.
Many Buffalo fans remember Joseph's football career in Boulder from 1990-1994. Joseph was a freshman on CU's 1990 National Championship team and saw playing time at quarterback and tailback throughout his career.
After receiving his degree in marketing, Joseph signed as a free agent with the New York Jets to play defensive back and finished his two year career at Indianapolis. At 29 years old, Joseph is the youngest coach on the CU staff.
It was also announced that Vince Okruch would assume lone defensive coordinator duties. For the past three years, Okruch had shared the duties with Tom McMahon, who recently past away after battling cancer for the past two years.
In other Buff news, all of Colorado's non-conference games will once again be televised on either a regional or national basis.
The game times for seven of CU's eight Big 12 conference games won't be announced until at least 12 days before the games.
