In-State Linebacker to Watch

Colorado has always been a state that is strong with putting linebackers into the college ranks. A defender that has a shot this year of making it to the next level is Charlie Kay from Regis Jesuit HS in Aurora. The linebacker visited CU for junior day and gives us a look into his recruitment.

As a junior, Charlie Kay had 108 tackles, four sacks, one interception, and one fumble return 73 yards for a touchdown. Kay was named honorable mention all-conference. "I have a great ability to read the offense and attack the ball," Kay boasts.

He was in attendance at CU's junior day and Colorado is one of the schools Kay is taking a hard look at. "I like Stanford, San Diego, Cal, CU, Iowa State, and Michigan State. I don't have any favorites, but I am hearing the most from Stanford, Iowa State and CU.

"I have been a long-time fan of CU's. My family has season tickets so we have been going to their games for years. I like the campus and I like the fact that it is close to home and familiar."

Coach Cabral is after the linebacker for the Buffs. "He sends me a lot of text messages and just says things like he looks forward to seeing me at their summer camp. I plan on attending camp there, and also camps at Stanford and San Diego."

He will be attending Stanford's spring game this Saturday.

All schools like Kay as a linebacker.

He carries a 3.51 core GPA and is awaiting scores from both the SAT and ACT. Kay would like to major in Business.
