Staff, York Have a Conference Call

Colorado landed the top recruit in the state of Idaho last year and will try to accomplish the same feat this cycle. Carson York had a conference call with a couple of CU staffers yesterday and an offer looks to be imminent for the offensive line prospect. The Buffs are one of his top schools.

As a junior, Carson York was named All-Inland Empire League and All-North Idaho. "I have good balance and footwork," says York. "Coaches tell me they like the way I pass-block and they like how I can get into open space and move."

York has current written offers from Idaho, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, and Stanford. "I think Colorado and Arizona State are also close to offering. After those two, I think Northwestern could be soon."

The offensive lineman had a conference call yesterday with CU Offensive Line Coach Chris Strausser and one of his assistants. "He told me that he was hoping to be able to offer me on the call but that he hasn't spoken with my head coach yet because he hasn't received a return phone call. He said that before they offer me they have to get my coach's judge of character. As soon as my coach speaks with them, I believe they will offer.

"I am familiar with Coach Hawk and staff. I am well aware of what they did in their time at Boise State. I am excited to see if they can turn the Colorado program around. My father has been to Boulder and he loves it so I am excited to take a trip there and see it for myself."

York has seven schools he is looking at hardest. "I like the six Pac Ten schools; Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Arizona State, and then I like Colorado."

So is he dead-set on going to the Pac Ten? "I am interested in the Pac Ten, but to be honest, I would like to see what is outside of that. I have grown up watching the Pac Ten and I would like to see some more variety. We'll see what happens."

He has taken two trips to Oregon State which has made his parents fond of the OSU staff. "My parents love the staff at Oregon State. They really like the way they treat me."

York has also made an unofficial visit to Oregon.

He is unsure what summer camps, if any, he will visit. "I have so many schools asking me to come to their camps it gets overwhelming. The more offers I get, the harder it becomes. So right now I am not sure if I will be going to any camps because there are just so many to choose from."

York carries a 3.92 core GPA and scored an 1830 on the SAT. He is thinking of majoring in Business.
