"I committed to Coach Hawkins on Monday," Anthony Perkins explained. "I told him I was ready to be a Buff."

As a junior, he had 1,200 yards passing and 10 touchdowns. He also rushed for 500 yards and 17 touchdowns. On defense, in two games at free safety, he had two interceptions. Perkins was named first team all-conference and area. He was also named the Front Range Offensive Player of the Year and honorable mention all-state.

He has been recruited to CU as a cornerback. "Greg Brown is a great coach that will be an honor to play for. I know I will get better as a player under him."

Perkins feels privileged to play for his home-state school. "I am real excited to play for the Buffs. I grew up watching them. It does not matter who else offers because I am 100 percent solid."

Other schools showing interest included Colorado State, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas Christian.

Perkins carries a 4.0 core GPA and scored a 26 on the ACT. He will take the SAT in June and is undecided on a major.
