Offered D-Tackle Planning Boulder Visit

There are players with upside and then there are players with UPSIDE. Demetrious Davis from St. Joseph, Missouri is the latter. Last fall, he received second team all-state honors in just his first year of High School football. He has five written offers and it sounds like there are more on the way. The Buffs are one of the five as they jumped into the mix last week.

Colorado's defensive tackle depth is grimmer than grim. It has been for years. The new staff will need to fix that for the Buffs to have a chance to compete at a high level again. If there is one thing the elite programs around the nation have, it is great defensive tackles.

Demetrious Davis earned first team all-conference and all-city honors last season. He recorded 70 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, six sacks, four forced fumbles, and two pass deflections. Benton Head Coach Derek Wilson says of Davis, "Demetrious is just so explosive off the line. I can remember the couple times I did line him up in the shade, he would blow the line before the quarterback even took his second snap on three or four different occasions. He has a big wingspan, and he can really motor."

That "motor" has earned him early scholarship offers from Kansas State, Colorado, Colorado State, Arkansas, and Missouri. "My top two are Kansas State and Alabama right now. Those two are really recruiting me hard. I think 'Bama is getting ready to offer. I think I will go to both schools' camps this summer, and maybe Arkansas', too."

CU offered Davis last week. "I got my letter in the mail from Colorado last week offering me. I spoke with Coach Collins yesterday and told him I'll be coming there for a visit with my coach, real soon. I hear it is really nice up there and they seem to have good coaches. I imagine he'll talk to me about their situation at my position when I get there. He hasn't mentioned anything about their depth chart, yet."

The D-tackle prospect says that his mom favors a school outside of his favorites' list. "My mom really likes Kansas because it is close to home. It is only an hour from here. Missouri is three hours from here."

Davis is unsure of his current core GPA and will take the ACT on June 10th. He is thinking of a major in Pre-Law.
