Colorado has landed a couple of players from Serra High School in recent memory. The most memorable at this point is NFL-er Jashon Sykes and the most recent was cornerback Terry Wilson, who is currently on the roster.
The old CU staff tried to land more players from the school over the last few years to no avail. This is a new year. This is a new staff. Enter Da'John Harris. The versatile lineman can play on either side of the ball. "I am being recruited for offense and defense," Harris explains. "I think I prefer defense a little more - probably defensive end. I know the game well since I have pretty much played it since I was born. I go up against offensive linemen all the time that don't think I am quick because of how big I am. Then the ball is snapped and I am flying by them."
He has written offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Miami, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, UNLV, USC, Utah, Washington, and Washington State. "I also have verbal offers from Michigan and Colorado. I am waiting for those ones in the mail."
Does he have any interest in the Buffs if they do offer? "I haven't really looked into them so I don't know too much about them. I do know about Coach Hagan because I know his son. That is about it."
Growing up, Harris says he followed Miami, Michigan, UCLA, and USC.
He is not ready to name a favorite at this point. "I honestly couldn't tell ya. I am not sold on one certain place. I am just looking for the best place, with the best education, and the best chance of getting to the league. I would say my top six are USC, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Washington, and Oregon."
His summer camp plans are tentative. "I was thinking of going to Arizona's summer camp, but I think I have a dentist appointment. I might also go to USC's, but I am not sure on that, either. I really don't have to go to any camps because I already have a lot of offers. The schools have already seen me play enough to offer."
Harris carries a 3.0 core GPA. He is going to take the SAT again in hopes of a higher score. The big man would like to major in Computer Engineering or Accounting. "I also would like to be an Entrepreneur if I get to the league and make some money."
