As a junior, Anthony Wright rushed for 1,020 yds on 100 carries (10.2 yards per carry) and five touchdowns. He received first team all-Moore League honors as a running back. Wright also excels on defense, as a safety, where he had 51 tackles and four interceptions. He runs the 100m (best time was a 10.79), 200m, 300m hurdles, and long jumps during track season. "I have good speed, vision and smarts," Wright boasts. "I am a playmaker."
Schools like him on both sides of the ball. "It doesn't matter what position I play. Some schools like me at running back, some as a safety. They are all recruiting me as an athlete."
Wright has current written offers from San Diego State, Colorado State, Baylor, UNLV, Nevada and Nebraska. "My top schools are San Diego State, Oregon, USC, UCLA, Nebraska, Colorado, and Colorado State."
He says that Baylor and Colorado State are showing the most attention.
What does he like about Colorado? "They seem to have a good atmosphere. They are sending me a lot of mail. I also like that they have always ran the ball a lot."
Coach Hagan is after him for the Buffs.
This summer, Wright will attend the Cal camp, Oregon camp, Beyond 2000 camp, and also plans to make a camp at Colorado State.
He carries a 2.7 core GPA and is awaiting his test score. Wright would like to major in Business.
