Nation's No.10 Receiver Will Visit CU

Colorado is in major need of game-breaking receivers with size and speed. The CU staff currently has one verbal commitment from the Keystone State and they are trying hard to garner another. Toney Clemons says he will definitely take an official visit to Boulder this fall and the blue chip wideout has a lot of great things to say about Colorado.

As a junior, Toney Clemons finished with 43 catches for 666 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also recorded an interception on defense and had four punt return touchdowns. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette named him to their "Fab-22" team. He was named all-conference as a wide receiver, defensive back, kick returner, and punt returner.

Clemons has current written offers from Mississippi, Akron, Connecticut, Michigan, Temple, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and Rutgers. Colorado could be joining that group soon. "I am hoping to get my offer from them soon," explained Clemons. "They told me it would be in the mail. I spoke with their coaches last week and they said they really need a big-play receiver that can come in and play right now."

Coach Hagan is after the Keystone State Star for the Buffs. "Him and I text message real often. I am actually planning on calling him tonight. I am real interested in Colorado. I am looking forward to going there on an official visit. Everything I have heard about Boulder is positive. I have been told that even if I went there and didn't see the Colorado campus, I would have a nice visit just being in the city."

Clemons is acquaintances with future Buff, Lamont Smith. "Lamont is a great athlete. Him and I talk on and off. He is a good player that works hard. He deserves everything he gets. He plays in a high divison and he starts both ways. That is not easy to do here. I have nothing but high praise for him."

The receiver does not have a leader, but he is looking hard at seven schools. "Colorado is the school I really like in the Big 12. I also like Michigan, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Mississippi, Miami, and Akron. I have been on unofficial visits to Pitt, Michigan and Ohio State. I probably won't go on anymore visits this summer and will just take my visits in the fall. I am giving everyone a shot. I am not sure when I'll make my final decision."

Clemons is fully qualified and carries a 2.9 core GPA. He would like to major in Sports Management or Secondary Education.
