Buffs Lose Another Men's Hoopster

The Colorado men's basketball team lost a second recruit in as many weeks, a team spokesperson announced Monday. Guard Daniel Brown did not qualify academically for entrance into the university and will not be on the roster this season. Dale VanWright decided not to attend CU two weeks ago.

Daniel Brown, a 6-foot-6 player who prepped in Wisconsin, will not be on the Colorado squad this upcoming season because he didn't meet CU's academic standards. No other details were given by the athletic department official. Head coach Ricardo Patton was not available for comment.

Meanwhile, the Daily Camera reported that Dale VanWright, out of Houston, Texas, who was one of the prize recruits in a class Patton has called the best in his tenure, was denied admission by the school, too. VanWright has been released from his scholarship and will either attend a prep school in San Antonio or perhaps enroll at another university this year.

The Buffs now have 10 known players on scholarship for the upcoming school year. It's expected Patton will try and sign three players to fill his limit. Six-foot-10 center Marc VanBurck was leaning strongly to signing with the Buffs, according to his Luther High (Saskatchewan, Canada) coach. But that hasn't happened yet, according to a CU team spokesperson.

The current CU roster looks like this:
Kalvin Bay, 6-1, Fr., PG.
Dominique Coleman, 6-3, Sr., G
Marcus Hall, 6-1, Sr., G
Jermyl Jackson-Wilson, 6-5, So., F
Marcus King-Stockton, 6-9, Jr., C
Sean Kowal, 6-9, Fr., C
Chase Perkowski (walk-on), 6-2, So., G
Richard Roby, 6-6, Jr., G
Xavier Silas, 6-4, Fr., G
Dwight Thorne, 6-2, Fr., G
Jeremy Williams, 6-7, Fr., F
