Buffs Now Lead for Wright

Southern California is a bread-and-butter area under the new regime. It is the place the CU staff is hitting harder this recruiting cycle than anywhere else. A safety that has been offered is Anthony Wright from Compton. He is a very fast and powerful prospect that has the Buffs currently in front.

Anthony Wright now has written offers from Baylor, Colorado, Colorado State, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, and UNLV. "My top three are Colorado, Nebraska and Baylor," Wright states. "I am favoring Colorado.

"They are telling me that I am their guy. They want me really bad. Colorado is recruiting me harder than anyone. They said I can come in my first year and play and possibly start. I guess they are losing some safeties. They said I could play safety or corner."

Wright starts as a running back and safety for Compton and is fine with playing any position.

He was trying to make it for today's elite camp but that isn't happening. "I just couldn't fit it in. I wanted to go but will make an official visit instead. I plan on taking all my visits before deciding."

As a junior, Wright rushed for 1,020 yds on 100 carries (10.2 yards per carry) and five touchdowns. He received first team all-Moore League honors as a running back. Wright also excels on defense, as a safety, where he had 51 tackles and four interceptions. He runs the 100m (best time was a 10.79), 200m, 300m hurdles, and long jumps during track season. "I have good speed, vision and smarts," Wright boasts. "I am a playmaker."
